Feral

When people become unstable enough, they may go feral. Instability may occur due to trauma, neglect, lack of bonds, or emotional or pheromonal imbalances.

Betas are particularly sensitive to lack of bonds, especially during presentation. Small families and other groups may form larger packs during their children's teen years, just to ensure that kids will have the support they need during presentation.

Omegas are particularly sensitive to pheromonal imbalances. It's thought they're at their most sensitive during heats, but actual most feral episodes happen during low points of their cycles, where omegas may not be as aware of their sensory needs and neglect nesting or scenting.

Alphas are particularly sensitive to emotional imbalances. Losing fights with other alphas, being unable to protect group members during ruts, neglect, and too-frequent challenges from other alphas, can all destabilize an alpha. Alphas are the most likely dynamic to go feral, but usually experience the shortest duration episodes.
