Receiving Pups

Gaining custody of a young pup that is not biologically yours is called Receiving.

Litters can be very large in the omegaverse, and raising that many children is no easy task. Especially when parents may want to have multiple litters. But also, there are a variety of relationships that cannot not produce any children at all. Therefor, raising pups that aren't biologically yours has been normalized.

After a litter has been weaned, parents can give some of the pups to other members of their group that have the ability to raise them, or even to members of other groups. Trading pups can strengthen ties to other groups, as well as, in some situations, provide built in mates for pups of other parents in a group.

Some groups may have no litter-bearing couples, and receive all their pups from other groups or from professional Weaning Dams, who receive financial support while raising litters to give away.
